From bunkers in Idaho to growing grass on plastic in Colorado, Jess Lenihan joins us this week to share her Route to Turf story. Jess is the Sod Farm Manager for Green Valley Turf Co. in Platteville Colorado. Similar to many turf stories, once Jess was exposed to the industry at an early age, she was all in.

Here's what you'll hear in this week's Groundskeeper Chat:

  • How Jess turned a summer gig into a career
  • The unique gig of managing grass at a sod farm
  • Volunteering, networking and social media
  • Lastly, The Women in Turf Team

A little bit more about our guest:

Lenihan's turf origin story took place at the famous Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort in Idaho where she raked bunkers and planted ten of thousand flowers. Lenihan is a graduate of Penn State's Turfgrass Management program. After completing the program, she worked as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at Hayden Lake County Club for a decade. Her latest gig brought her to Colorado where she helps manage the sod farm for Green Valley Turf Co.
